20 Years With No Executions: What Have We Learned? | NCCADP Webinar
On June 23, NCCADP is hosting a webinar marking nearly 20 years since North Carolina’s last execution. A generation has now come of age without the state carrying out an execution. We think this is a critical opportunity to ask what this absence has meant for North Carolina and what it has taught us about the death penalty itself.
The webinar will bring together a really amazing group of folks who have spent years wrestling with these questions from different perspectives. Speakers include:
- Henderson Hill, Co-Director of RedressNC, Civil Rights and Capital Defense Attorney
- Rep. Vernetta Alston, NC Representative, Former Capital Defense Attorney
- Alfred Rivera, NC Death Row Exoneree, Homicide Victim Family Member, Activist
- Dr. Seth Kotch, Associate Professor of American Studies at UNC-CH, Author of Lethal State: A History of the Death Penalty in North Carolina
These are people who have survived, studied, litigated, and challenged the death penalty system firsthand. Register at bit.ly/nccadpwebinar.
