Lauren Haigler Henderson

Lauren Haigler Henderson joined SCSJ as the Grants Manager in February 2022. With a commitment to empowering marginalized communities and fostering equity, Lauren brings over 16 years of experience in development, fundraising, grants management, and advocacy to help advance SCSJ’s mission. Lauren brings a unique perspective to her position, having worked for both grant-making and grant-receiving organizations. In previous roles, she supported the expansion and management of foundation initiatives to promote reproductive rights and women’s economic equality. On the grant-receiving side, Lauren has managed development and fundraising for a diverse range of nonprofit organizations focused on advancing social, economic, and racial justice. Her experience also includes leading efforts to fund grassroots organizations across the South for both civic engagement and community-based disaster relief and recovery.  Lauren graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in History. She is a native North Carolinian and avid Duke fan. Lauren serves as a Commissioner on the North Carolina Human Relations Commission, supporting efforts aimed at ensuring equal opportunity and improving relationships among all communities in her home state.
