Sarah Ovaska is the senior communications strategist for the Southern Leadership for Voter Engagement (SOLVE) network. She joined Southern Coalition for Social Justice in fall 2023 and is honored to join a team on the forefront of the critical fight to protect and expand the voting rights of Southerners and people of color.
Sarah came to SCSJ from Common Cause where she worked on the national communications team with state programs in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. Before that, she was an award-winning investigative journalist in North Carolina and Texas where she reported extensively on government accountability, public policy, and civic engagement issues. Sarah lives in North Carolina and is a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
