Andy Li joined Southern Coalition for Social Justice in March 2023 and serves as a communications advocate. 

Andy grew up in Boone, North Carolina and Xi’an, China. He graduated from East Carolina University in 2019 with a degree in journalism and political science. While in school, he served in various leadership roles at The East Carolinian, the student newspaper, and conducted research through the Honors College, with a focus on the experiences of marginalized communities as well as Middle Eastern politics. He also worked with NPR in their Next Generation Radio project in Chapel Hill. After graduating, he worked with Community Impact Newspaper, covering the Conroe-Montgomery area of Houston, Texas with topics ranging from LGBTQ+ issues with local school boards to water rates. In 2021, he joined the Sunrise team at WITN in Greenville, North Carolina as a producer, where he worked to restructure the show, before joining SCSJ in March of 2023.

When he’s not working, Andy enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends, embroidery, and baking.
