The best way to make our voices heard is to participate in every election. Many people skip voting in off-year municipal elections because they think local elections don’t matter. But many times it is local officials that make policies with the most impact on our everyday lives in areas including criminal justice reform, environmental justice, social services acces, public schools, and many more.
SCSJ needs your help to share this important message. We’re trying a new way to get a message out quickly across a wide range of social media outlets. It’s called a Thunderclap – and it’s quick, easy, and FREE. When you join our Thunderclap, you agree to give the system one-time access to your Facebook, Twitter, and/or Tumblr account to post a single, timed announcement on Friday, October 11 reminding all of your friends and followers about the voter registration deadline. If 100 people support our Thunderclap, then the message will be sent out by every single supporter at the same time on the same day, making it much more likely to be noticed and read.
Help remind your friends and family that voting matters! For North Carolina municipalities that hold elections on November 5, Friday October 11 is the last day to register to vote. Support our Thunderclap to remind all of your contacts that voting matters – and now is the time to start!
