Durham, NC – On Friday, October 6, 2017, the Southern Coalition for Social Justice celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Cotton Room in Durham, NC.
The evening was a tremendous success and an important milestone for SCSJ. More than 200 people attended the event, and we enjoyed inspiring speeches and performances by Vanita Gupta, Erin Dale Byrd, Bree Newsome, Carly P. Jones, Undreya Hudson, and Defacto Thezpian. Hundreds of people came together to recognize our work — including our high-profile voting rights litigation, our work to combat civil and human rights violations, and our efforts to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline and remedy the impacts of mass incarceration. Their support was uplifting and motivating for everyone at SCSJ.
We want to thank all of those who made this event possible and those who have and continue to financially support our work so that we may spend the next decade fighting for justice in the South.
