Liz joined the Southern Coalition for Social Justice as a Digital Content and UX Designer in May 2024.
Originally from Wisconsin, Liz moved to North Carolina to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (Reporting) with a minor in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, they completed their Master’s degree in Graphic and Experience Design (MGXD) from North Carolina State University. In graduate school, Liz gravitated toward designing with/for diverse communities through an ethics-based lens and using design as a method of activism.
Before SCSJ, Liz worked as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the College of Design at NC State. During their time as an educator, Liz developed the Design Ethics and Justice course, encouraging students to challenge the status quo and embrace cultural humility through exposure to diverse guest speakers and intersectional instruction. Their design and research interests include education, web accessibility, design justice, inclusive design, and AI/machine learning. Liz is so excited to contribute to an organization that aligns with their values!
Outside of work, Liz enjoys playing tennis, sewing, reading, and traveling.
