Counsel, Justice System Reform
she/her/hers

Janki joined Southern Coalition for Social Justice in May 2024 and serves as Counsel on the Justice System Reform team. Born and raised in Atlanta, Janki has spent her life inspired by and active in Southern movements and communities.

Janki graduated from Bowdoin College and UCLA School of Law. She was the recipient of the Gideon’s Promise Fellowship, serving as public defender in Mecklenburg County for five years. There, Janki worked in District and Superior Court to represent indigent clients battling the criminal legal system. As a result, Janki saw firsthand how the injustices of the criminal legal system oppress marginalized individuals. In her work at the SCSJ, Janki is excited to transform that knowledge and passion for movement legal work into tangible change for afflicted communities.

Outside of work, Janki can be found teaching yoga, pulling tarot, reading a good book, and cooking a delicious meal for friends and family.
