Katharine “Katie” Brophy Dubois is Interim Counsel for Justice System Reform. Committed to service and to seeking justice for historically underserved individuals and communities, she fights for the dignity and constitutional rights of our neighbors impacted by the criminal justice system and corporate overreach.
Graduating magna cum laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2025, Katie comes to the law with deep professional roots in writing, research, and education. With a PhD in History from the University of Michigan, while teaching history, religion, and popular culture to college students, Katie also became a best-selling historical novelist.
A native of Pennsylvania, during college at Duke University she fell love with North Carolina’s people and natural beauty. In 2007, she made this magnificent state her permanent home.
