Summer Voting Rights Research Fellow

Jose joined the Southern Coalition for Social Justice as a summer research fellow in June 2022. Jose is a MPP candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School. Previously, he served as the North Carolina Deputy Voter Protection Director for President Biden’s general election campaign and was an Iowa Caucus field organizer for Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign. 

Jose’s professional and lived experiences fuel his passion for defending the right to vote. He is a proud first-generation American, born in Lima, Peru, raised in Willow Spring, North Carolina, and graduated from Georgetown University in 2017. At the Kennedy School, he works as a research assistant studying state- and local-level mail ballot policies and trends. In his spare time, Jose loves to cook, watch soccer, and spend time with friends and family.
