Gino Nuzzolillo joined the Southern Coalition for Social Justice as a Communications Advocate in May 2021. Prior to joining SCSJ, Gino was the Policy Fellow at Democracy North Carolina, where he oversaw statewide advocacy programs safeguarding voting rights in local election administration.
Gino grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Duke University in 2020. While in school, Gino organized and advocated for prison abolition and economic, environmental, and housing justice with the Community Empowerment Fund, the Alabama Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice, and the Bronx Defenders. His academic focus on the history of community organizing and social movements in the American South drives his commitment to supporting the region’s freedom fighters today.
